- The episode opens on Thursday November 22, 2014 (which in our universe is a Saturday). Mobley and Trenton meet at a Ron's Coffee. Mobley feebly makes conversation over awkward topics like radicalism and competitive phone brands. Trenton pwns his phone with a speed test website hack. Darlene joins them in time to see her victory, and fills in for Elliot who isn't able to attend. She inducts them into FSociety with the narrative about "the top 1% of the top 1%."
- We return to today (still 4th of July 2015*) and they tune into a secret phone conference of the FBI, regarding Operation Berenstain, illegally overreaching state surveillance of millions of Americans. They quickly craft a video (Trenton runs ffmpeg to strip away any revealing metadata), and disclose the call publicly.
- *Our reality's 4th of July 2015 falls on Saturday, (indeed most major events on this show are always on the weekend,) but in Mr. Robot's universe, the 4th of July falls on a Friday. If it doesn't speak to the Mandela Effect, it certainly speaks to the writing technique of "The Unreliable Narrator."
- Just as Mobley makes noises about quitting the revolution, Susan Jacobs walks up the stairs, returning to her home, only to see FSociety has seized it.
- At a bar in Washington Township celebrating the 4th of July, Angela has brought her black recent hookup in a setting that's playing Karaoke. Scenes begin intersplicing between the FSociety team securing the captive situation of Susan Jacobs and the Karaoke singing and surrounding dialog with Angela. Angela begins fixated on the newly released FSociety video, and is confronted by "Steve the Plumber" about her job at E Corps. She nearly walks out stinging with his insult, but turns around to put him in his place.
- Susan tries to menace the team over the charges they'll face, but while they start to wrap their heads around the situation, Susan claims to need the bathroom, and makes a failed escape attempt, charging headfirst into a brick wall. Darlene instructs "We don't have much time... [to] own her."
- Karaoke resumes with Angela performing "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." Meanwhile, the team is digging into her devices and mail accounts, searching for any incriminating facts they can use to blackmail her. Trenton finds a post-it note with her Yahoo mail account. Angela bails on the date she brought in favor of leaving with a more fatherly older man.
- Agent Dom questions Xander Jones about the bullet casing (microstamped, and illegal in the city) she found at the FSociety arcade. She offers him immunity in exchange for a name. (That must lead to Darlene, who stole his gun from his safe.)
- Darlene walks in to confront Susan about the dirt they've uncovered in her emails. Unlike her panicked friends, Darlene is happy to have her captive and spells out Susan's complicity in E Corp causing her father's death. "I have taken down your company. Taken over your home. And now... I have you." She soon tazes Susan, who drops dead into the swimming pool.
- Trenton and Mobley sit at the subway, pondering where to go next. Mobley insists the entire revolution was colossally stupid, and that they need to run.
- Darlene & Cisco decide to wipe down the house, and dispose the body at the pet crematorium. They pay $2000 from Susan's cold wallet of ECoin.
- Mobley had a pizza delivered to Susan's in order to confirm that no one has yet burned the place.
- At Trenton's home, a breaking sound is heard outside, and she spots a black car speeding away. At Mobley's apartment, the FBI are knocking on the door to take him in. Agent Dom interviews him, offers condolences about Romero's death, links DJ Mobley to the Arcade party, and asks a name. He lawyers up.
- After his release from FBI holding, Mobley texts Trenton to ask to meet, then wipes & ditches his phone.
- Their secure text session is handled by the app Wickr.
- Usernames use in Wickr are simply "djmobley" and "trenton". He reduces the message survival time to 5 seconds.
- He does a complete factory userdata erasure from System Recovery mode.
- Despite dumping his phone, Mobley is still wearing an fsociety button on his jacket. According to a deleted scene, this button is bugged by the FBI.
- Trenton waits for Mobley at the Ron's Coffee where they first met. He is two hours late and not replying to her texts. Ultimately, she looks up when the bell jingles at the opening door...
- Presumably, it's Mobley arriving late. We know they flee from there to Arizona, but we do not learn the explanation of his extreme tardiness. Reasons could range from him going to the wrong coffee shop out of panic, to extraordinary measures being taken to shake his surveillance.
- Darlene awakes at Cisco's apartment. While he showers, she snoops onto his laptop and discovers he's been monitoring her in reports to the Dark Army. She ends up smashing the laptop, an clubbing him in the head with a baseball bat.
- Darlene must have figured out Cisco's password: his laptop was locked, but she got into his open session on IRC.
- The conversation is between Cisco "思科" and "酸灭" which means "acidic."
