- The episodes opens with Elliot, reviewing what really happened since his arrest on the night of 5/9. To the tune of Saint Saviour's "This Aint No Hymn," we see him rapidly boked, tried, and checked into jail, as he pled "guity," wanting to jail himself away from Mr. Robot.
- Leon soon introduces himself. He stresses the importance of routine, and offers to fix him up with whatever he Elliot needs. He requests a notebook.
- Elliot is soon discharged to early release. Darlene greets him at the jailhouse gate. "Init 5, return to normal." She gives him a bag of fast food and a supportive hug.
- Angela fetches the rubber duckie tool from her earlier hack. She sneaks into E Corp Risk Management to mine the computer of her boss, Joseph Green. The tool's Mimikatz password cracker provides her access to classified files. (His password is holidayarmadillo) She uncovers data regarding the Washington Township Power Plant.
- Darlene explains to Elliot about a Dark Army link between "Stage 2" and the femtocell. Also that Trenton and Mobley have vanished.
- Elliot visits his infirmed mother, to tell her how she (unknowingly) got him through hard times. She doesn't respond to the world around her.
- Whiterose visits the grave of Lester Moore, former CEO of E Corp. She mentions her role in causing his airplane crash, necessitated by his threat to shut down her Washington Township project. She pees on his grave. Her assistant Grant informs her that Elliot has been released.
- Back at Cisco's apartment, he and Darlene are arguing about the Dark Army surveillance. Oddly, Elliot hears Mr Robot break up the fight, which weirds him about their disconnect. Elliot asks Cisco to set up a Dark Army meet to discuss Stage 2.
- In a quick costume change, Minister Zhang (Whiterose's alter) walks through the cemetery with Philip Price. Price announces that the plant will be taken over by the federal government on Friday due to lack of cash. He coerces Zhang to loan E Corp all the cash it needs at no interest.
- Elliot uses the number he got from Cisco to hack Xun's phone, using the dream tool of phreakers: the Pwny Express.
- Angela take the thumb drive of confidential data to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
- On the subway, Mr Robot is possibly locking Elliot out of conversations with Cisco... but he is left to doubt if he is just having a bad daydream. When he arrives at the library, and says to Xun, "Tell Whiterose I wanna know what Stage 2 is."
- Things at the Nuclear Commission get creepy fast when "Deputy Director Phelps" arrives, and walks Angela down a darkening hallway. Questions regarding her work at E Corp (which she intentionally did not mention) make her increasingly suspicious that this move is more toward vulnerability than safety.
- Darlene realizes she lost the damaged VHS tape back at Susan Jacob's house. Cisco offers to go alone as he is less recognized. She chats with Elliot abut looking tired, and he wants badly to get back to his apartment. (Or is it Robot's want?)
- Agent Dom visits Angela with a gift of sandwiches. Angela is still broadening her suspicion. Dom advises her to watch out, "Next person's not going to offer you food. They're gonna grab you off the street and throw you in a dark cell."
- The tap on Xun reveals the fallout of Elliot's meeting. "That doesn't make sense. Stage 2 is his plan." He asks for Xun's phone, which he insists is clean. Whiterose responds "He is a master. You have to be careful."
- Cisco returns to his apartment pounding on the door to Darlene. Elliot retuns to his apartment to find Joanna's SUV parked directly in front. She rolls down the window and greets him "Hello, Ollie."
