- To start the most upbeat moment of the series, "New Sensation" by INXS plays while Elliot begins his new E Corp job. He is living the consumer dream, and reversing the progress of Stage 2 from both sides. He is also purging much of E Corp management whose greedy schemes have made it such a center of evil. (Upbeat as this part is, the rest of the season follows the theme "disintegration.")
- Passwords are entertaining. His is 15 characters long one day, 20 long the next, then 21, then 23. One manager William Braddock has "aboynameg00". Peter McCleery typed "tapitback!" in plain view of Elliot.
- Another easter egg IP address: 192.251.68.229
- At first blush, the QR code on Elliot's badge appears to be the same from his Red Wheelbarrow journal, leading to http://www.conficturaindustries.com : However, There are subtle differences, and the link reported to belong here is http://www.e-corp-usa.com/company_directory/elliot_alderson/
- Elliot's sadness is back, worse than before.
- He visits Krista in her home office. (Her landlord was not paying utilities.) She asks about Mr Robot being missing. At first Elliot says it's good, but when she presses that he misses him, he admits he misses being part of something important. A memory drifts into Elliots mind: He & Darlene making a snowman, name it Kevin McAllister... and the tale ends with Elliot being pushed out the window by his dad. Krista had never been told that before. (This reemphasizes the unreliable narrator.)
- Joanna Wellick is the guest on Frank Cody's show. She publicly affirms her commitment to her husband. Afterward, her car is stalked by her lover Derick, who shoots Mr Sullivan and kills Joanna.
- During the show, a new video is seemingly released by FSociety. (Darlene is questioned an hour after it's release, and her interrogation takes place midway through Joanna's drive home.) The video is a Dark Army tactic, posted to FSociety's official Vimeo account... but not by FSociety operatives. Darlene assures the FBI that Ellliot has never had a relationship with Tyrell, but the recorded phone call from the Queensboro Correctional Facility to Tyrell shows differently.
- No time is wasted before the body of Joanna is rushed to the morgue for autopsy. (A gruesome scene is shown when they saw open her skull, but an overlooked detail is that despite the sound effects, the saw blade is not rotating.) Joanna and her shooter are dead, but Mr Sullivan the driver will likely pull through. It is discussed with Santiago that the baby will go into Family Services custody, that Dom should focus not on Dark Army but rather upon Tyrell & FSociety, and that the IP address (strangely unhidden) from which the Vimeo was broadcast will soon lead to an arrest.
- Elliot meets Darlene at Coney Island that night. Darlene wants to give up and leave town. Elliot also mentions the Kevin McAllister snowman (just to bookmark the earlier Krista discussion in this episode). He wants Darlene to stay the night. "I don't want to be alone."
- Philip Price addresses the G20 conference in Turkey to announce the adoptation of ECoin as the new world currency. He doesn't pull punches to cite China as the only holdout from the agreement, who favors Bitcoin. Minister Zhang (Whiterose) reluctantly meets Price on his way out. Price demands that the Economic Accord be signed by the Chinese government, for if he doesn't, the USA vote to the UN (permitting the Congo to be annexed) will be withdrawn. Zhang uses the opportunity to threaten Angela ("your pet employee"). "Don't mistake my generosity for generosity."
- Darlene implants a cellular device behind Elliot's monitor, taking screenshots every ten seconds. Elliot (actually Robot) confronts her. When he slams her against the wall, she realizes his alter, leaves, and Elliot stands bewildered as to what just happened.
- Elliot meets Krista, and asks her to talk to him (Robot). "Give him permission," she says. When Robot surfaces, we hear the combined Elliot/Robot voice say "You should know nothing will become of this." Robot is unfiltered, voicing his disdain and suspicion of her. "Doesn't matter; because of her, we've been compromised."
- On the subway, Elliot is trying to work out who "compromised" him.
- Back at the apartment, Lenny passes Flipper back to Elliot.
- Elliot moves toward his Linux Mint login screen, but pulls back to boot Kali from a thumbdrive. He hunts for rootkits, suspecting the compromise. The FBI's surveillance is working.
- Whiterose/Zhang wants Stage 2 to happen the same day as the UN vote. "It's time Phillip Price's hand got slapped."
- Dom returns to the FBI safe house. Elliot uploaded an email with a link the night before. Now he's breaking into the apartment downstairs. Dom spots the phish. "This email wasn't for Tyrell. It's for us."
