- Elliot lies in bed, pondering Mr Robot as the silent observer, always ahead of him. Elliot decides that using a lucid dreaming method, he might make himself the silent observer, to get the drop on what Mr Robot does during his sleep. He chants a mantra, "Mind awake, Body asleep."
- Joanna rechecks the address locating the phone. "Of all the gifts he sent, this is the greatest we ever received.
- Angela is locked in the back of a van playing "Night Train" on the radio (a likely homage to Back To The Future). She finds no means of escape, so she threatens to release the confidential data from "copies everywhere." The radio crackles out in the tunnel.
- Agent Dom is checked out at the hospital. Santiago dismisses the doctor and agent, so he can confide in her. She blames him for Cisco's death and the risk he put to everyone else. She points that this Dark Army attack could be an act of war. He updates her that China bailed out E Corps for a loan of 2 trillion dolllars, so no one will challenge China's relations. Their plan will assure their escape with its well-hatched narrative. All she asks is to conduct "the interview."
- To the tune of the Davy Crocket Theme, the van arrives at a nondescript suburban home, likely in Jersey or upstate NY. The couple guide Angela, past a nicely furnished house with post-its covering photo faces, to a dark room room at the end of the hall. Inside are a large aquarium, an a desk with a Commodore 64 system, to chairs, an inspirational poster, a red rotary phone, and a copy of the novel Lolita. She is seated and locked inside. The couple never speaks.
- A young girl resembling Angela enters the room, fires up the C64, and starts asking probing questions. At first, Angela refuses to answer, but the girl claims she'll be beaten if Angela doesn't cooperate. The weird interview continues.
- Philip Price meets Jack, the FTC director. He implores the deregulation of ECoin, but Jack feels it is a violation of the government's monopoly role in producing cash. Price offers to provide the government full access, so long as the new currency is unimpeded.
- Angela continues to be questioned as the aquarium water is draining slowly away. The question is asked "Is the key in the room?" Frustrated, Angela eventually plays along, glimpsing at the girl's fist on the novel cover. She concludes "The key is in the room. It was in my fist. My fist was in my pocket." The girl leaves saying "I'll be back with your results." (A lie?)
- Dom returns to her apartment for a brief rest. She has an odd exchange with Alexa (her Amazon Echo device). She concludes that they live together, but are both very much alone.
- Back in the suburbs, the aquarium is emptied, and Whiterose finally enters the room. She lights up a cigarette, speaks of the importance of her time, and chats about the unlimited potential that hides behind doors. She concludes "I don't want your proof... I want your belief." and speculates on a person's definition of "real."
- Elliot awakes from the mantra as the silent observer, spying in on Mr Robot. Robot has fished a Red Wheelbarrow menu out of the junk mail, and begins decrypting the cypher of numbers penciled onto it. Using web-based tools for number sets and crypto tools, he arrives at a phone number. (ie The Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences, and www.ascii2hex.com) Dialing it tells him to meet a cab at 25th and 8th. Elliot "tails" Robot, only to ultimate realize that Robot is himself.
- Angela visits her lawyer at her Washington Township home. Despite appearing to be in trouble, she says not to call her again.
- Elliot enters the cab, but has no idea what address to request. To his amazement, Tyrell enters the back seat and requests they go to "Chambers and Church." Elliot is so convinced that Tyrell is unreal, he gets them thrown out of the cab. Near their destination, they continue the rest of their way on foot... to see the nearly completed "Stage 2." The episode ends to the tune of "Earth Angel." (Another homage to Back to the Future)
